Der letzte Release ist nun ein Jahr her, Änderungen im SVN auch schon einige Monate und die Aktivität ist zur Zeit Null. Wie ist der momentane Stand? Zwei stabile Versionen sind fertig, die aktuelle Entwicklung für 1.4 liegt im SVN. Downloadzahlen kennen wir nicht und bis heute gab es nicht eine Mail, Fehlermeldung oder sonstige Rückmeldung. Enttäuschend. Wie geht es weiter? Das Internet(tm) hat sich gewandelt und die Masse nutzt das "Web-2.0" mit vorgefertigten (guten) Anwendungen im Netz. Der Bedarf an Zusatzsoftware wird geringer und die Konkurrenz ist groß. Großartig bekannt dürfte das LB nicht sein und extra Werbung anfachen ist nicht unser Ding. So wird es erstmal vor sich hinplätschern bis Aktivität von Benutzern einsetzt. Wir sind stolz auf das LB, es ist ein gutes Stück Software. Aber bei null Resonanz verteilen wir unsere Lebenszeit lieber auf andere Dinge

The last release was about one year ago, changes in the SVN are also dated some months back and current activity is zero. So, what is it now? We have two stable versions ready and the development progress can be found in SVN. We don't have any download statistics and till this day we haven't received one mail, bugreport or any kind of feedback. Disappointing. How will it go on? The internet(tm) has changed and people are using the "Web-2.0" with (good) tools out there. The demand for additional software is shrinking and competitors are abundant. We assume the LB is not well-known and we don't plan to do any extensive promotion. So we'll just go on this way until user feedback arrives. We are proud of LB. It is a good piece of software. But while experiencing zero attention, we'd rather like to share lifetime on other things

Es ist vollbracht! Nach genau einem Jahr gibt es nun die zweite, stabile Version in unserem Download-Bereich. Sie bringt eine bessere Druckunterstützung, verbesserte Ansicht auf kleinen Bildschirmen, mit GnuPG signierte E-Mails, globale Ankündigungen, Suchmaschinen-freundliche Links und eine Schnittstelle, um Spam zu filtern, mit. Desweiteren sollte nun auch IPv6 funktionieren. Die "alte" stabile 1.0 erhält weiter Unterstützung durch Fehlerbehebung

It's done! Exactly after one year we can announce the second stable version in our download area. It ships better print view, better support for small displays, gnupg signed e-mails, global announcements, searchengine-friendly links and an interface to filter spam messages. Additionally IPv6 should be fine now. The "old" stable 1.0 is still supported with bugfixing

Well, today I put the next release of the current development tree into the download area. This fixes some errors from the initial release and brings some new features. If you intend to upgrade from 1.1.0, please note to apply database updates (found in setup/update_0.php) by hand. Probably this will be automated later.

* Tags can now be searched on posting forms and appended by click

* Another link on index page to search for recent topics

* Different help texts on each panel (user/moderator/executive)

* Some UI tweaks

Auch wenn die letzte Änderung einige Monate zurückliegt, ist LB nicht tot. Ich habe nur was anderes zu tun und soweit läuft die Software zufriedenstellend. Es wird 2010 weitergehen, keine Frage :)

Although the last change was some months ago, LB is not dead. I am busy with other things and so far the software works fine. No doubt, it will go on in 2010 :)

I just put a package into download area to allow you to test the current development branch. This is release 1.1.0 and should not be used in production environments, as it is intended for testing. Any 1.0.x can be upgraded. Let´s have a look at the new features:

* Output optimizations: New stylesheets allow to create an optimized HTML output for printing or small displays (less than 800px).

* Global Announcement: Executives can set a message that will be shown to any user on the user frontend.

* Searchengine-friendly URLs by doing rewriting: Most links on the user-frontend can be rewritten by the webserver to make it more friendly to web spiders. At the moment we support Apache and lighttpd.

* Outgoing mails can be signed by gnupg: This is done by using the gnupg tool on the command line or a special php extension.

* Message filtering against spam: The user IP-Address and the message itself can be check against several sources (dnsbl,spamd etc.) to detect spam.

* IPv6-Support: We changed the internals to support the longer addresses.
